Natural Resources The Amazon rainforest, also known as Amazonia, is one of the world's greatest natural resources. Lush vegetation is formed in this unique rainforest as it consists of more than 60,000 species of trees. The vegetation in the Amazon area continuously recycles carbon dioxide into oxygen making the Amazon the "Lungs of our Planet". About 20% of earth's oxygen is produced by the Amazon rainforest.
